BJP flays DMK on issue of dissolution of Assembly Saturday, May 28 2005 12:47 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Pondicherry:
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) yesterday (May 27, 2005) accused the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) of speaking in double voice on the issue of dissolution of Assembly.
The DMK, which normally opposed dissolution of any State Government and imposition of President's rule in States was now supporting the dissolution of Assembly in Bihar, BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley said while addressing BJP workers in Pondicherry.
Jaitley said the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was implementing the agenda evolved by the 'tainted Ministers'.
Party Vice President Venkiah Naidu said the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the centre was butchering democracy by dissolving State Assemblies.
Naidu, who released a book containing achievements of the lone BJP legislator A M Krishnamoorthy, said the country was heading for another era of emergency.
Targeting the Congress-led Government in Pondicherry, Jaitley said the BJP was unhappy with the performance of the Union territory administration.
He said the BJP had drawn up a plan to oust the Pondicherry Government. BJP functionaries would frequently visit Pondicherry to strengthen the party.
He said the party workers should be prepared for the polls in Pondicherry, which is due in another one year.
S Tirunavukarasar, MP and incharge of Pondicherry, Pondicherry BJP president R Kesavalu were among others present.
