Three ultras were among five persons killed in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, where security forces rescued a teenaged boy from the clutches of militants, a police spokesman said in Srinagar today (May 29, 2005).
Police shot dead two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit in an encounter at Dharan-Gool in Udhampur district today morning, the spokesman said.
Police recovered two AK rifles and a wireless set from the slain militants, identified as Farooq Ahmed Bhat and Shamsdin, both residents of Molta Gool, the spokesman said.
He said that another militant was shot dead in a gun battle with security forces at Gosh-Aiynoo near Aishmuqam, 70 km from Srinagar in Anantnag district at around 11:40 hrs (IST) today.
Bodies of Nazir Ahmad Naik alias Beta and Fayaz Ahmed Wahid, both residents of Tral, were recovered from a ditch at village Noorpora, 40 km from here in Pulwama district of south Kashmir today, the spokesman said.
Both the victims had been kidnapped by militants on May 22, he said, adding Naik was a released militant.
