Mumbai's high-profile joint Police Commissioner Ahmed Javed was today (May 29, 2005) shifted as Maharashtra Government affected a major reshuffle in police administration involving 78 senior officers.
"Twenty-five police officials of IG level and 53 SPs and DSPs have been transferred," state Director General of Police (DGP), P S Pasricha said in Mumbai.
Mumbai Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Ahmed Javed was transferred as Inspector General (SRPF) and will be replaced by Arup Patnaik who was till now heading the State Reserve Police Force.
Ashok Dongre and Dilip Bhujbal, Deputy Commissioners of Police who were suspended in the wake of December 2004 hooch tragedy and later reinstated, have been transferred to Special Intelligence Department and CID (Crime), Pune respectively.
Another Joint Commissioner of Police (Administration) P K Jain has also been transferred as IG, Nanded. Jain has been replaced by S N Awate.
