LJP MLA serves legal notice to Raghuvansh Prasad Sunday, May 29 2005 14:28 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Stung by the allegations of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had offered each of the rebel Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) MLAs Rs three crore as a quid pro quo for supporting it to form a Government in Bihar, LJP MLA of the dissolved Assembly Munna Shukla has sent a legal notice to Singh to prove his charge within 10 days, failing which he would move court against him.
''In the legal notice, I have asked Singh to make public the proof within 10 days in support of his allegations of the NDA offering Rs three crore to the LJP MLAs. If he fails to do it, he will move court against him,'' Shukla, MLA of Lalganj in the dissolved Assembly which is part of Singh's Vaishali Lok Sabha seat, told PTI in Patna today (May 29, 2005).
The notice was sent to the Minister yesterday (May 28, 2005) he said. Shukla, who had a prominent role in the bunch of LJP MLAs who had gone to Jharkhand to discuss formation of NDA Government under Janata Dal United (JDU) leader Nitish Kumar, said that he had taken this step, as he felt insulted at the Minister's 'baseless' allegations.
Singh had on May 25 alleged that each of the dissident LJP MLAs was offered Rs three crore, a cabinet berth and nominations for their wives in the legislative council for supporting the Government under NDA.
Shukla had stood second in the last Lok Sabha election from Vaishali, which was won by Singh.
