We have very good relation with Left parties: PM Sunday, May 29 2005 19:00 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Shimla:
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today (May 29, 2005) rejected the charge that the Left parties, which support his Government from outside, were sabotaging the economic policies of the Centre.
Asked if the Left parties were sabotaging his Government's economic reforms, Singh told a press conference in Shimla that "I continue to enjoy very good relation with the
Left colleagues. I greatly value their assistance".
He said, "Sometimes their (Left) perspectives differ from ours but we have been able to resolve all these problems amicably".
"I have no doubt that the future will be any different than what was witnessed in the last one year," he said adding the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) would work together to realise the objectives endorsed in the Common Minimum Programme.
Singh's remarks assume importance in the wake of Leader of the Opposition L K Advani's recent advise to the Prime Minister not to depend on the Left parties to push through his economic policies.
