Ram Kapase should have resigned, says Thackeray Sunday, May 29 2005 10:02 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray said Andaman and Nicobar Governor Ram Kapase should have resigned when Union Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar had insulted Veer Savarkar by removing plaque containing his quotes.
"Who is Mani Shankar Aiyar?, Thackeray questioned adding, the Governor should have resigned after the Minister had insulted Veer Savarkar.
It was expected of Kapase to resign immediately, but he "is still there even after the tsunami waves struck the island," Thackeray said in his speech at a function marking the birth anniversary of Veer Savarkar at Gurgaon.
Thackeray's remarks hold significance as the Andaman and Nicobar Governor, who was present at the function had left just before the speech of Sena supremo.
The Sena supremo further said that the media was making unnecessary issue of his comments on NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) chief Sharad Pawar.
He questioned sudden praise of Gujarat Government by the Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi saying it was a turn around by the Congress party, which was critical of Narendra Modi.
