'Hurriyat's restricted visit to Pak not a hurdle' Monday, May 30 2005 09:11 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) leader from Jammu and Kashmir Mohd Yousuf Tarigami yesterday (May 29, 2005) said India's stand on the travel plan of Hurriyat Conference leaders across the Line of Control (LOC) should not be seen as creating hurdles in Confidence-Building Measures (CBM) between the two countries.
He said technical issues on Hurriyat leaders' visit to Pakistan or Pak-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) should not be allowed to take centre-stage in the peace process.
Indian Government has said any move by Hurriyat leaders to travel beyond PoK would go against the understanding reached between India and Pakistan during the peace process.
Tarigami, General Secretary of the party's state unit said, "The peace process requires forward movement and such non-issues should not be allowed to come in between."
"The main aim of leadership is to see that the peace process should be strengthened and technical issues must not occupy centre-stage," he said.
