PIL filed challenging dissolution of Bihar Assembly

New Delhi: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was today (May 30, 2005) filed in the Supreme Court challenging dissolution of the Bihar Assembly and seeking a stay on the election process till hearing of the petition.

Spotlight: Bihar Elections

The PIL seeking quashing of the notification to dissolve the Bihar Assembly, was filed by Shivkumar Prasad Singh. Singh had unsuccessfully contested the Assembly elections.

Bihar - Party Position

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had said it would challenge the notification in the Apex Court, is likely to move the Supreme Court tomorrow (May 31, 2005).
