A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was today (May 30, 2005) filed in the Supreme Court challenging dissolution of the Bihar Assembly and seeking a stay on the election process till hearing of the petition.
The PIL seeking quashing of the notification to dissolve the Bihar Assembly, was filed by Shivkumar Prasad Singh. Singh had unsuccessfully contested the Assembly elections.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had said it would challenge the notification in the Apex Court, is likely to move the Supreme Court tomorrow (May 31, 2005).
