Chandigarh:
Remembering Lord Rama for environment and secularism. He has written Lord Rama's name at least seven lakh times in miniature form to preach about water conservation, afforestation and to spread the message of secularism.
Thirty nine-year-old Pirat Pal Goyal - a local businessman - has made pictures of thousands of miniscule words, all 'Ram', in delicate succession.
While most are sketches of gods and goddesses, freedom fighters and Sikh gurus, Goyal has also tried his hand at flowers, social service messages like unity and brotherhood between religions and environmental pollution, depiction of the Kargil war and tsunami tragedy.
"These works are not for sale. I make them for personal satisfaction and to see my name in the Guinness Book of world records," Goyal - dealing in electrical and electronics gadgets - said.
The artist, who has made over 100 paintings, is using the technique of drawing fine lines inscribing the name of Lord Rama to create different forms.
The subject varies from flowers to Qutab Minar and Red Fort in Delhi but what dominates his art is his message on secularism.
Using 'Ram' in the background, Goyal had tried to assimilate essence of different religions in most of his creations.
"I simply used to write 'Ram' in my notebooks and once an idea came to my mind that I should make paintings while writing which could convey the message of my heart to others also," he says.
From sufferings of tsunami victims on canvas and painting of President A P J Abdul Kalam and late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to the curved beak of Guru Gobind Singh's pet falcon, each line and curve of Goyal's works are a minute but visible idiom of the beloved Hindu god's name.
"I started writing Ram five years ago. The idea was to write it the maximum number of times in continuation and create a record," he says.
Among his other works include writing Ram on the grain of rice and making the map of mother India with his blood.
He says his two sons and his wife had always stood besides him in his work.
