New Delhi:
Former MLAs of Bihar Assembly belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal United (JDU) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) today (May 31, 2005) filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging dissolution of the State Assembly and questioning Governor Buta Singh's recommendation to the Union Government in this regard.
Seeking quashing of the Home Ministry notification regarding Presidential proclamation dissolving the Assembly, the petition sought examination of all documents, which form the basis of Governor Buta Singh's recommendation for the dissolution of the House.
The petitioners were Rameshwar Prasad Chaurasia (BJP), Dr Anil Kumar (breakaway LJP) and Ram Parvesh Rai (JDU) and Kishore Kumar Munna (Independent). All the petitioners were members of the Legislative Assembly before it was dissolved.
