'I am satisfied with vigilance probe', says Buta Tuesday, May 31 2005 17:32 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Asserting that nobody involved in the multi-crore flood-relief scam would be spared, Bihar Governor Buta Singh today (May 31, 2005) said he was fully satisfied with the progress of the State vigilance bureau probing the case and ruled out ordering a CBI probe 'at this stage'.
"I am fully satisfied with the pace of investigation by the Bureau into the scam involving former Patna district magistrate Gautam Goswami and others. The bureau officials are on the job and nobody involved in the case will be spared," Singh told reporters at the State secretariat in Patna.
To a specific question whether he intended to hand over to the CBI the inquiry into the case, Singh replied in the negative.
"There is no plan for a CBI probe at this stage as vigilance sleuths are doing exceedingly well", he said.
He said stern action would be taken against the officials of the relief department if they were found to have sat over the files and delayed a vigilance probe into the irregularities committed by Goswami and others in carrying out relief operations for flood-hit people.
