Gohar's book bundle of lies, says Col (Retd) Siddhu Thursday, June 2 2005 20:43 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Meerut:
A retired colonel, who led a tank regiment during the 1965 Indo-Pak war, today (Jun 2, 2005) termed the charge made by former Pakistan Foreign Minister Gohar Ayub Khan that an Indian Brigadier had sold war plans to Pakistan as a "bundle of lies."
"The book is a well thought out conspiracy against India," said Col (Retd) G B S Siddhu.
"In the Indian Army, war plans never remain with one officer. Sector plans are issued to the sector incharge and carbon copies are destroyed on the spot," said the 84-year war veteran.
He said the Indian Army had breached a canal in the Khemkarn sector to stop the advancing Patton tanks of Pakistan. The tanks were in four feet deep water and had become unserviceable.
Pakistan's President Ayub Khan had famously said he would march into Delhi on the Patton tanks supplied by United States.
