Railway: Hike in platform ticket charge withdrawn

Chennai: Bowing to public pressure, the Railways today (June 2, 2005) announced the withdrawal of hike in the charge of platform ticket.

A Southern Railway press release said in Chennai that the charge of platform ticket had been brought down to Rs Three from Rs five with immediate effect.

The Railway Minister Laloo Prasad had proposed the hike in the railway budget, which came into effect from yesterday (Jun 1, 2005).
