Thursday, June 2 2005 14:46 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Colombo: An Indian television channel's broadcast centre run by a Sri Lankan outfit was damaged in a grenade attack in a northern Sri Lankan town late on Wednesday night (Jun 1, 2005).

Unidentified attackers lobbed a grenade at the re-broadcast centre of Chennai-based Sun TV near Vavuniya, officials said.

Though no casualties were reported in the attack, transmission equipment was damaged in the explosion.

The centre was run by a pro-Tamil organisation. The motive behind the attack was not immediately clear.
