VHP demands apology from Advani on Ayodhya issue

Chennai: The Vishwa Hindi Parishad (VHP) today (June 2, 2005) demanded a public apology from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president L K Advani for describing Dec 6, 1992 Ayodhya incident as the 'saddest' day of his life.

Addressing a press conference VHP All India President Ashok Singhal said by making the statement Advani had betrayed the interests of the Hindus.

Advani himself had accused Pakistan of waging a proxy war against India, Singhal said.
