Srinagar:
The Jammu and Kashmir Government is planning to submit to the Centre a Rs 40 crore road project, which would serve as an alternative road link between Kashmir valley and Jammu, an official spokesman said in Srinagar today (Jun 3, 2005).
The proposed project connecting the valley and Doda district via Kapran-Devsar Brariguli was discussed in a meeting between Minister of State for Roads and Buildings, G A Mir and Union secretary Road Transport and National Highways Danander Kumar, he said.
The central team headed by the Union secretary is in Srinagar to inspect various road connectivity projects in progress and identify new projects in the State, he said.
The work on second phase of four-lane Khanabal-Pahalgam road from Mattan to Seer has been started while the first phase from Khanabal to Mattan is in full swing and is expected to be completed in next three months, the spokesman said.
The four-lane Pahalgam road involving a cost of Rs 25 crore would help ease the rush on the pilgrimage route to the Amarnath cave-shrine, he said.
