Cong dismiss Paswan claim on Laloo toppling UPA Friday, June 3 2005 07:51 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Congress yesterday (Jun 2, 2005) sought to dismiss Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan's claim that Bihar Assembly was dissolved under Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Laloo Prasad's threat to topple the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre.
"I do not believe that anyone can pressurise the Prime Minister or the UPA chairperson. They are not the one to succumb to any pressure," party general secretary Ambika Soni told reporters when asked to comment on the claim of the Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) leader who is a known detractor of Laloo.
Asked had it been so was it right on the part of Paswan to make such a charge, Soni said whether the claim was proper or improper was for the Prime Minister to decide as the LJP leader is his Cabinet colleague.
Paswan had told a minorities conference in Bihar on Wednesday (Jun 1, 2005) that Laloo had threatened Sonia Gandhi that if Rabri Devi failed to become the Chief Minister, he would topple the Government at the Centre.
