Muslims are not Paswan's 'private property': RJD Friday, June 3 2005 18:28 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Alleging that Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president Ramvilas Paswan was championing the Muslim cause for political gains, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) today (Jun 3, 2005) asked him to refrain from "befooling" the Minority community.
"Paswan is politically dishonest and an opportunist and trying to make capital out of raising the demands of making a Muslim Chief Minister of Bihar or opening up of a Muslim University,'' RJD national spokesman and Rajya Sabha member Moti-ur-Rehman said in a press statement.
"Muslims Paswan ke jagir nahin hain (Muslims are not his (Paswan's) personal property. We ask him to refrain from playing with their sentiments," he said.
Rehman claimed the Muslims had unflinching faith in the leadership of RJD supremo and Railway Minister Laloo Prasad ''and they will not get lured by the tactics of Paswan''.
Paswan had, while addressing a minorities' conference in Kishanganj in Bihar today, promised to make a Muslim the next Chief Minister of Bihar. He had also urged the Governor Buta Singh to open a Muslim university in Bihar on the pattern of Aligarh Muslim University.
