Shillong:
The United Liberation front of Assam (ULFA) is operating three bank accounts and running seven posh hotels in Bangladesh, the BSF said in Shillong today (Jun 3, 2005).
Addressing a press conference, S C Srivastava, IG of BSF's Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Nagaland (AMMN) Frontier, said that the three hotels located in Dhaka were Surma International in Mohaminadpur, Mohammadia in Mirpur and Padma International in Banani.
These hotels were being managed by Subal Barua alias Ahmed Satish Sharma alias Kamal and Ashish Deka alias Hossain respectively, he said.
In Sylhet, the militant group has two hotels namely Keya International in Zinda Bazar area managed by Dulal Roy alias Saidul and Yamuna in University road managed by Anil Dey alias Sohal, he said.
Hotel Basundhara, managed by Subhash Deka alias Humayun and Raj King, managed by Kanailal Barman alias Rubel were located in Chittagong's Halishahar and Pahartali areas respectively.
All the managers of the hotels were the cadres of the proscribed outfit. Since these hotels were benefiting the Bangladesh Government, its soft attitude towards ULFA leaders was easily understandable, Srivastava said.
