'Centre of power in the Govt is not at one place' Saturday, June 4 2005 16:53 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amar Singh has made veiled critical remarks against Congress president Sonia Gandhi by suggesting that the "centre of power" in the Government "is not at one place."
"I will not say anything about this clearly, but hint is sufficient for an intelligent person," he told Aaj Taj in the "Seedhi Baat" programme.
On being asked about the control of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government, Singh alleged that "there is more than one power centre in the Government," according to a release issued by the TV channel.
"The country knows this. It is a fact that he (Manmohan Singh) is our constitutional Prime Minister. His statement on Jharkhand issue proves your suspicion. It is well known that the centre of power is not at one place. It will be wrong to say that centre of power is at one place", he said.
In the interview, the SP leader was all praise for Manmohan Singh whom he described as "honest and polished" He declared that his party would never regret supporting a Government led by someone like Manmohan Singh.
On the decision to dissolve the Bihar Assembly, Amar Singh said, "Bihar Assembly dissolution was wrong. UPA Government is responsible for it. Being a PM Manmohan Singh is also responsible, but he has his morals in place and I think he will not be happy with the decision." He dismissed the possibility of his party withdrawing support to the Congress-led coalition at the Centre.
Amar Singh claimed that the formation of the Third Front is inevitable and Samajwadi Party is the core of that formation.
