Jet Air flight operation plans to US in jeopardy
Saturday, June 4 2005 10:20 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Washington: Indian private airliner Jet Airways' flight operations to the US starting later this month may be in jeopardy with these operations coming "under review" by the US Transportation Department on "national security grounds".

The review follows a 118-page complaint registered by an American airline Jet Airways Inc against the Indian carrier.

Bill Mosley, spokesman for the US Transportation Department, told sources that the objection raised is "under review".

The Maryland-based company has filed the objection to Transportation Secretary Norman Y Meneta objecting to the Indian airliner being licensed to operate in the US on "national security grounds".

Jet Airways India is scheduled to commence its US operations with a flight between Mumbai and New York on June 23.
