Counting of votes for the by polls to one Lok Sabha and 16 Assembly seats in six States, which will decide among others the fate of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Karnataka leader S Bangarappa, will begin tomorrow (Jun 5, 2005) morning.
The results of the by polls, held on June 2nd, are expected to be out by afternoon.
By polls were held in the Shimoga Parliamentary constituency in Karnataka and in five Assembly seats in Goa, four in Uttar Pradesh, three in Haryana, two in Kerala and one each in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
The by poll results in Goa, now under President's rule and where the State Assembly is under suspended animation, are crucial as they are likely to rekindle efforts for formation of a popular Government.
In Haryana, Hooda is trying his luck from Killoi to enter the State Assembly, while in other two Assembly constituencies, Savitri Jindal and Kiran Chaudhry, widows of noted industrialist O P Jindal and Agriculture Minister Surendra Singh, are in the fray from Hisar and Tosham constituencies respectively.
In Shimoga constituency in Karnataka, former Chief Minister S Bangarappa is seeking re-election as Samajwadi Party nominee.
Meanwhile, repolling for the bypoll in Allahabad (West) constituency in UP was being held today (Jun 4, 2005). The other three constituencies where by polls were held in the State are Haiser Bazar (Reserved), Varanasi (North) and Khairagarh.
In Kerala, by polls were held in the Koothuparamba and Azhikode segments.
