Probe into claim on ULFA running hotels in B'desh Saturday, June 4 2005 12:39 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Dhaka:
Bangladesh has said it would investigate India's claim that United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) was running seven hotels of international standard in Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet, which it felt, "seems incorrect".
"We don't have any such information ... It seems incorrect to me," Bangladesh Inspector General of Police Abdul Qayum said.
However, he said they would check out the information as they customarily do whenever any allegation comes from India, the 'Daily Star' newspaper reported today (Jun 4, 2005).
He was reacting to remarks made by S C Srivastava, Border Security Force (BSF) Inspector-General of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Nagaland (AMMN) Frontier, yesterday (Jun 3, 2005).
Srivastava had said that ULFA was running seven hotels of international standard in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, south-eastern port city of Chittagong and north-eastern Sylhet district, and also operating three bank accounts in the country.
