K'taka bypolls: JDS wins Chamarajpet assembly seat Sunday, June 5 2005 10:31 Hrs (IST) - World Time -  Bangalore:
JDS (Janata Dal Secular) candidate Jamir Ahmed Khan won the Chamarajpet Assembly seat in the bye-elections held in Karnataka.
Khan defeated his nearest Congress rival R V Devaraj by a margin of 3938 votes, according to electoral authorities in Bangalore.
The bye-election was held on June 2 and votes were counted today (June 5, 2005).
The bypoll was caused following the resigning of the seat by former Chief Minister S M Krishna, after he was appointed Governor of Maharashtra.
With this, JDS has drubbed its coalition partner Congress.
