Former CM Bangarappa wins Shimoga LS seat

Shimoga: S Bangarappa of Samajwadi Party (SP) today (Jun 5, 2005) won the Shimoga Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka in the June 2, 2005 bypoll.

The former Chief Minister Bangarappa defeated his nearest Congress rival in a keenly fought election by a margin of over 28,000 votes.

SP opened its account in Karnataka with this election.
