Monday, June 6 2005 19:24 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: CBI today (Jun 6, 2005) filed a case of alleged corruption against unnamed officials in the purchase of arms from South Africa's State-owned armament firm Denel.

This is the first case registered to probe the alleged corruption into the Defence deals during the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) regime.

The agency, which scrutinised the papers submitted by the Ministry of Defence, filed the case after consulting the legal experts about the sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code, the sources said.
