Bakery retrial: SC extends term of Special Court

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today (Jun 6, 2005) extended till September 30 the term of the Special Court conducting the Best Bakery retrial in Mumbai.

A Bench comprising Justice P V Reddy and Justice Arijit Pasayat extended the term till September last as it had received a letter in this regard from Special Judge A M Thipsay, who is hearing the case after it was transferred by the Supreme Court to Mumbai.

The term of the Special Court was till May 24.

Altogether, 72 witnesses have been re-examined till now during the retrial.

In the attack in the Bakery in Vadodara on the night of March 1, 2002, a violent crowd had attacked and killed 14 persons.
