Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Osman Ismail arrived in New Delhi today (Jun 6, 2005) on a three-day visit aimed at boosting relations between the two countries, particularly in the energy sector.
Ismail is expected to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and hold talks with External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh on the entire gamut of bilateral relations.
He will also interact with business community here on ways to enhance trade cooperation.
"In his discussions with the Indian leadership, the Minister will elaborate on ways and means of consolidating the bilateral relations, including in the hydrocarbon sector following the landmark strategic cooperation of the two countries in such vital field," a spokesperson of the Sudanese Embassy said.
India and Sudan enjoy historical relations and are linked with fraternal ties premised on civilisational bonds and affinity that have been nurtured throughout history.
