Natwar to visit Lanka to discuss bilateral issues

Colombo: External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh will pay a two-day visit to Sri Lanka this week to discuss trade, investment, tourism, culture and education.

During his visit beginning on Thursday (Jun 9, 2005), Singh will co-chair the Indo-Sri Lankan Joint Commission meeting with his counterpart Lakshman Kadirgamar, the Foreign Ministry in Colombo said in a statement.

The meeting will take place on Friday (Jun 10, 2005), it said, adding the joint Commission discuss bilateral issues covering trade, investment, tourism, culture and education.

Singh and Kadirgamar will also follow up on last week's meeting in New Delhi between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga, the statement said.

The External Affairs Minister will also have a separate meeting with Kumaratunga during his visit.
