Police summons Pataudi in black buck poaching case
Tuesday, June 7 2005 12:56 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Jhajjar (Haryana): Tightening the noose around former Indian Cricket Captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and his six other accomplices, Police today (Jun 7, 2005) served a notice telling them to join the investigation in the alleged poaching of wildlife animals case.

"A notice had been served upon Pataudi and six others under section 160 seeking their presence before the Station House Officer (SHO) Jhajjar police," Jhajjar police chief Hanief Qureshi told sources over phone.

"They (alleged accused) should cooperate with police in the investigations," said the SP.

Qureshi said that the police had fixed 17:00 hrs (IST) as the deadline for the presence of the accused in the case failing, which the police would send a party to arrest them.

"If they don't present them before the SHO before 17:00 hrs (IST) then police may raid their possible hideouts to arrest them," he said.

Qureshi said the bodies of the black buck and two rabbits recovered from the vehicle in which Pataudi and other accused were travelling had been buried in the burial ground close to the veterinary hospital at Jhajjar.

The burial was conducted under the supervision of a three-member committee comprising Inspector, Wild life, Veterinary surgeon and tehsildar, he said adding that videography of the burial was also done.

Meanwhile, one of the accused Madan Singh of Aurangpur village, who had been arrested yesterday (Jun 6, 2005) and remanded to police custody for a day, would be presented in the court this afternoon.

Haryana police had registered an FIR against Pataudi and seven others travelling in a vehicle with the carcasses of the animals, a rifle, a gun and some live cartridges on Friday (Jun 3, 2005) night near a wildlife sanctuary in Jhajjar.

Besides Pataudi and Madan Singh, the others whose names figure in the FIR are Shashi Singh, Dayal Singh, Shaheed Ahmed and Daya Suddin - all residents of Delhi, Mohammad Ayub Khan - resident of Gurgaon and Balwan Singh, a resident of Aurangpur village in the district.
