'Advani may withdraw resignation at behest of RSS'
Wednesday, June 8 2005 17:04 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Guna (Madhya Pradesh): Describing the row over Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president L K Advani's comments on Mohammad Ali Jinnah "as an opportunity for secular forces to strengthen themselves," Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh claimed the saffron leader might withdraw his resignation at the behest of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

"It will not be surprising if Advani, pressurised by RSS, withdraws his resignation," Singh told reporters at his hometown Raghogarh, 50 km from Guna last night (Jun 7, 2005).

"The controversy (over Advani's statement said the BJP chief, who had been criticising Jinnah all his life, changed his views while visiting Pakistan.

"It seems that due to inability of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to participate in active politics, Advani is attempting to find a liberal image," Singh said.
