India can't afford ideological confusion on Advani Wednesday, June 8 2005 11:23 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Mumbai:
Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray yesterday (Jun 7, 2005) said the country cannot afford "ideological confusion" that has risen due to remarks of L K Advani on Mohammad Ali Jinnah followed by his resignation as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president.
"Confusion has been created after describing Pakistan's founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah as a historical man. This confusion has been further increased by the resignation of L K Advani," Thackeray said in a statement in Mumbai.
The Sena supremo further said the country cannot afford "ideological confusion" that has risen due to the situation.
"The situation for everyone to think seriously has risen due to this ideological confusion which even led to the resignation of Advani. This is unfortunate," Thackeray said.
He said that once there is a crack in the faith then it becomes difficult to stay in that post.
The statement on Jinnah and resignation of Advani might have brought "joy" for few, Thackeray said.
