Advani must be replaced by a 'Hindutvavadi': VHP Wednesday, June 8 2005 20:14 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
New Delhi:
Adopting an aggressive posture, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today (Jun 8, 2005) said it wanted a "Hindu minded" leader to replace L K Advani as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president.
Coming to the rescue of VHP general secretary Praveen Togadia, who is under attack from BJP leaders for using offensive language against Advani, VHP senior vice-president Acharya Giriraj Kishore denied that the firebrand leader had described the BJP chief as a "traitor."
"We welcome Advani's decision to resign respecting the sentiments of the voters of his constituency and Hindu sentiments. He should stick to his decision," Kishore told reporters in New Delhi.
Asked who should replace Advani, "it is for the party to decide but he should be Hindutvavadi (Hindu minded). The Hindus should not be humiliated."
