After a five-day long interrogation, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau sleuths today (Jun 8, 2005) produced Santosh Kumar Jha, the alleged kingpin of the flood-relief scam, before the court of the designated Judge J M Prasad who remanded him to judicial custody till June 10.
Jha would be lodged in Beur jail.
The court had on June 2 permitted the bureau to take Jha on police remand for five days for custodial interrogation.
Santosh Jha had on June 1 surrendered before the court of Prasad.
The Vigilance Judge had on May 31 issued non-bailable warrants against Goswami and eight others, including Jha.
Earlier, the vigilance sleuths had arrested five of the 28 accused in the case.
Meanwhile, Goswami's lawyer Tuhin Shankar is likely to move the Patna High Court soon against the designated judge Prasad's order rejecting the former DM's application for anticipatory bail.
