BJP Parliamentary board meet postponed till Jun 10
Thursday, June 9 2005 15:26 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: The meeting of the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) Parliamentary Board to discuss the leadership crisis today (June 9, 2005) has been postponed till tomorrow (June 10, 2005), in an apparent bid to work out a possible compromise.

Announcing the postponement, senior leader Sushma Swaraj said the expanded Parliamentary Board would now now meet at 1800 hrs (IST) tomorrow but declined to give any reason for it.

Party sources said the meeting was rescheduled in a bid to gain more time to work out a formula that would satisfy L K Advani, who had reportedly expressed his displeasure over the absence of reference to his Pakistan visit in the resolution passed yesterday (jun 8, 2005).

Party Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said senior leader Jaswant Singh, who was away in Israel, also expressed his desire to participate in the meeting and he would reach the capital tomorrow.

The resolution had also not not made any reference to his remarks on Mohammed Ali Jinnah in a way that would have defended him from the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh), which had attacked his praise for Pakistan's founder.

Yesterday's resolution of the Board had rejected his resignation and asked him continue to lead the party while hailing his services to the organisation.
