NDA's plan to parade MLAs 'democratic right': Buta Thursday, June 9 2005 14:39 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Bihar Governor Buta Singh, who is under fire from the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) for dissolving the State Assembly on 'False and fabricated' charge of horse-trading of legislators, today (June 9, 2005) termed as 'democratic right' the NDA's plan to parade the MLAs before President A P J Abdul Kalam.
'It is the democratic right of the MLAs', was terse reply of Singh to queries by newspersons in Patna on NDA's plan to parade supporting MLAs before Rashtrapati Bhavan.
"What I did (recommending dissolution of the house) is constitutionally, democratically and legally right," Singh said while defending his action, which NDA had described as 'a dictatorial and unconstitutional step.'
More than 100 MLAs of the dissolved Bihar assembly, including members of breakaway LJP (Lok Janshakti Party) and Independents who had backed senior JDU (Janata Dal United) leader Nitish Kumar as Chief Minister, would seek to meet President A P J Abdul Kalam in Delhi tomorrow to complain against dissolution of the House by the Centre.
The MLAs are going on their own in separate groups and through separate modes of transportation, State NDA Convenor Nand Kishore Yadav said.
State JDU president Vijendra Yadav said all the MLAs who were supporting Kumar as Chief Minister would assemble in Delhi by today and march together to the Rashtrapati Bhawan tomorrow (Jun 10, 2005).
