BJP leaders working overtime on face saving formula
Friday, June 10 2005 08:31 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have been were working overtime sine last night (Jun 9, 2005) to hammer out a "face saving" formula to resolve the leadership crisis that has gripped the party.

While the BJP leaders were said to be working on a resolution to be considered by the Parliamentary Board today (Jun 10, 2005) that would try to place the context in which Advani made the controversial remarks on Jinnah, sources said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is believed to have suggested that the wording should be in such a way that Advani was quoting from some excerpts from Jinnah's speech and was not commending them.

The RSS would also like the resolution to make it clear that Advani still held the view that Jinnah was responsible for partition of India.

Continuing with the hectic parleys, senior party leaders Ananth Kumar, Arun Jaitley and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi met Advani in the evening and are understood to have discussed the draft resolutions proposed to be placed before the Parliamentary Board meeting in New Delhi today.
