BJP party crisis will blow over by evening: Naidu
Friday, June 10 2005 14:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Even as loyalists of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president L K Advani continued to make efforts to persuade him to withdraw his resignation, party Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today (Jun 10, 2005) expressed confidence that the crisis would have a "meaningful and happy" ending by this evening.

Emerging from of a 20-minute-meeting with Advani, Naidu told reporters that Advani would attend the crucial meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board, office bearers and Chief Ministers of party-ruled States called later this evening to discuss the situation.

He claimed that the "concerns of all concerned" would be addressed and a solution acceptable to everybody would be found out.

To a question whether Advani would withdraw his resignation, he said, "It will be known before the meeting itself and BJP workers will be happy."

Naidu said talks were still on with Advani to persuade him to withdraw his resignation.

Dismissing reports that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) had reservations about the fresh resolution, he said, "There is no interference from the RSS and a wrong perception is being sought to be created on the issue."
