Both Seers of Kanchi Mutt will return to Kalavai
Friday, June 10 2005 11:17 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Kancheepuram: Both the Seers of the Kanchi Mutt, Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijayendra Saraswathi, will leave for Kalavai tomorrow (Jun 11, 2005), from where they returned to Kancheepuram on June 8, Mutt sources said today (Jun 10, 2005).

They said this was in accordance with their itinerary programme, drawn up while leaving the town, where they had been camping since being arrested in the Sankararaman murder case. They would be back 'later' the sources said, but did not confirm a time frame.

They also pointed out that the 'Chathurmasya Vratham' pooja at the Mutt, for the presence of the Seers is required, would take place only in July.

Meanwhile, Jayendra Saraswathi left for Poonamalee near Chennai this morning to perform 'Kumbabisekham' in a temple and will return to the Mutt later today.

In his absence, the Junior Seer Vijendra Saraswathi will perform the 'Chandra Mouleeswara' pooja, the sources said.

In the meantime, 'Kumbabhishekam' was performed at the Kacheeswarar Temple, a kilometre away from Kancheepuram. No official invitation was sent to the Mutt, as per custom. The temple belongs to the Chenguntha Mudaliar community and is under HR and CE control.

Last evening, the Seers paid a brief visit to Arcot near Vellore to a Mariamman Temple at a village there, for which Kumbabhishekam is to be performed today. They were back at the Mutt the same evening.
