Yash Chopra inaugurates first-ever IIFA film fest

Amsterdam: Marking yet another milestone in the celebration of Indian cinema worldwide, veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra inaugurated the first-ever IIFA film festival at the famous Pathe Tuschinski theatre in Amsterdam.

The three-day festival opened yesterday (Jun 10, 2005), with Chopra's blockbuster 'Veer Zaara' starring Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherji.

For seven euros per film, Bollywood fans in Amsterdam would be able to view the best of Indian cinema over the next two days.

Movies being screened during the festival include the likes of Black, Mughal-e-Azam, Dhoom, Dil Chahta Hai, Ek Hasina Thi, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Hum Tum, Lakshya and Oscar nominated Little Terrorist.

Actors Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Directors Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Karan Johar, Yash Chopra and Rakesh Roshan will also be interacting with their Dutch counterparts and audiences at the Pathe Tuschinski Art House, enabling an exchange of ideas and facilitating business opportunities.

Giving the international audience a taste of Indian cinema, the film festival entitled 'A Panorama of Indian Cinema' is being held as part of the International Indian Film Academy Weekend in Amsterdam.
