We have no objection for alliance with LJP: RJD Saturday, June 11 2005 18:29 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Amid reluctance by LJP (Lok Janshakti Party) President Ramvilas Paswan over the issue of an alliance either with RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) or BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) in the Bihar Assembly polls, RJD today (Jun 11, 2005) said it had no objection on the issue.
''RJD may contest the Assembly election in alliance with the LJP if Paswan desires so. We will have no objection,'' RJD national spokesman Shivanand Tiwari told reporters in Patna.
RJD, he said, had always tried to stop split in the secular votes to keep the communal forces at bay.
''We, therefore, want that besides RJD, all other secular parties including CPI (Communist Party of India) and CPM (Communist Party of India-Marxist) should contest the elections together to inflict a crushing defeat on the NDA (National Democratic Alliance).''
In reply to a question, Tiwari said the appointment of Sushil Kumar Modi, as Bihar BJP president would not have any impact on RJD's electoral prospects.
