RSS chief likens politicians with prostitutes Sunday, June 12 2005 09:45 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Sikar (Raj):
Close on the heels of the upheaval in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which led to the party president L K Advani's resignation and subsequent withdrawal, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief K S Sudarshan yesterday (Jun 11, 2005) lashed out at politicians likening politics to prostitutes.
"We have kept ourselves away from politics as salvation cannot be attained through it. Politics keeps changing every minute. Like a prostitute who keeps changing her form, politics also keeps changing its appearance. There is no permanent element in politics," he told RSS workers in Sikar.
The remarks assume significance as they come close on the heels of the four days of crisis in BJP after RSS took a tough stance on Advani's statements in Pakistan, including his praise for Pakistan founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
Sudarshan said the RSS is engaged in the nation-building process for decades and has no connection with politics.
"Sangh has no relations with politics because the nation-building comes through Indian culture and ethos. Politics changes its face like a prostitute," the RSS chief, camping in Siker for the past three days, said.
Politics should leave societal responsibility on organisation like RSS, he said.
Referring to the Vajpayee regime, Sudarshan said the education policy was suitably changed at that time despite protests from Left parties.
"Now, the same Communist parties, supporting the Centre, are doing the same thing in education," he said.
