Kalam to inaugurate Governor's conference t'rrow Monday, June 13 2005 16:27 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

President A P J Abdul Kalam will inaugurate a two-day Governor's Conference tomorrow (Jun 14, 2005) during which discussion on issues related to internal security and border management besides disaster management strategies would be taken up.
The meeting would "discuss important national issues including internal security, border management and disaster management strategies," Home Secretary V K Duggal told reporters in New Delhi today (Jun 13, 2005).
A discussion on disaster management strategies, which the Home Ministry was working on, will also be held, he said.
The conference, which would see the attendance of Governors from 28 States and Lt Governor's from three Union Territories, will also discuss issues of "certain perks to Governors."
The Conference would also discuss the roadmap of perspective development planning under the Tenth Plan, concept and implications of VAT, effective and gainful utilisation of Governors as Chancellors of universities and development programmes specific to State and union territories.
The Home Secretary said Home Minister Shivraj Patil would present an overall national scenario in last one year.
The Governor's conference would be attended among others by Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
