BJP National executive meet to start from July 15 Wednesday, June 15 2005 13:29 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Chennai:
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive, at its three-day meeting beginning in Chennai on July 15, would chalk out an agitational programme against the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government's "anti-people programmes", BJP vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu said in Chennai today (Jun 15, 2005).
He told reporters that the meeting would discuss the present political situation in the country besides reviewing the performance of one year rule of the UPA Government at the Centre.
"The Congress leaders had been expressing a worry that there is no worthwhile opposition in the country. We will take care of the worry at the meeting," he said.
Over 400 delegates, including top party leaders and five Chief Ministers of BJP ruled States, would be participating in the meeting, he said.
The executive meeting would be preceded by a meeting of the office bearers of the party in Chennai on July 15 morning. The executive would start deliberations from the afternoon, he said.
He said the BJP would be conducting nationwide meetings on June 25 and 26 to observe the 30th anniversary of imposition of emergency in the country. "We want to remind the people of the black days of emergency as the autocratic mindset is still prevalent among the Congressmen, who dismissed opposition headed Governments," he said.
