Hunting case: Pataudi not on the run, says son Saif
Wednesday, June 15 2005 08:17 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Cine star Saif Ali Khan yesterday (Jun 14, 2005) said he was in touch with his father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi facing arrest in the black buck hunting case and asserted he was not on the run.

"It would be wrong to say that the police is looking for him. He has been given time till the day after tomorrow. Paperwork is on and conversations are on," Saif Ali Khan told NDTV yesterday.

Asked whether the entire poaching controversy was blown out of proportion, he said, "No sir, new is news. Media does its job. We do our job. As long as the truth comes out and justice is done ... is what we are interested in."

The actor refused to comment any further on the issue but said he was concerned about his father.

Earlier in the day, Punjab and Haryana High Court issued notice to Haryana Government to produce all documents pertaining to the poaching case before it on Friday (Jun 17, 2005) and refused to grant interim bail to the former Indian cricket captain Pataudi.

Pataudi and seven others have been booked under various sections of the Wildlife Protection Act for alleged hunting of endangered animals near a wildlife sanctuary in Jhajjar in Haryana on June 3. If found guilty, they face imprisonment upto seven years and a fine of Rs 25,000.
