Shahabuddin asked to appear before DM by Monday
Thursday, June 16 2005 15:59 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Siwan: Siwan District Magistrate Santosh Kumar Mal today (Jun 16, 2005) gave a last chance to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Mohammad Shahabuddin to appear before his court on Monday (Jun 20, 2005) to make his defence on the order of the former DM C K Anil to book him under Crime Control Act (CCA) for offences committed by the MP post-February 18.

Mal, who had on Tuesday (Jun 14, 2005) reserved his order on Shahabuddin issue, today ordered him to physically present himself before his court on Monday (Jun 20, 2005) to make his defence on the fresh order of the then Siwan DM C K Anil to impose CCA on him for offences committed by the MP post-February 18, the day he was externed from Siwan for six months.

The DM allowed the RJD MP to bring five witnesses along with him to the court on Monday in his support.

Taking note of the MP's non-appearance in the court in the past despite Anil's order, Mal ordered Monday will be the last chance for Shahabuddin to present his defence, failing which I will pass an appropriate order without hearing him.

Close on the heels of Saran Commissioner C Lal Sota lifting the externment order against Shahabuddin on May 9, Anil had on May 16 issued a fresh directive asking him to appear before his court on May 17 and explain why he should not be booked under CCA for offences committed post February 18, 2005.
