Six members of a family, including a woman and three children, were today (Jun 17, 2005) axed to death in a village in Bhandara district of Maharashtra over a land dispute, police said.
Police suspect that Hagru Patle (80), his son Sudam Hagru Patle (45), daughter-in-law Khelanbai Sudam Patle (40), grandson Vishal Sudam Patle (15) and grand-daughters Soni Sudam Patle (17) and Kirti Sudam Patle (13) were killed by Hagru's another son and grandson Guda Hagru Patle and Gulab Guda Patle at around 3.30 a.m in Khapa-Mohala village in Tumsar tehsil.
Guda Patle and Gulab Patle were arrested by police. The two families often used to have bitter arguments over a piece of agricultural land that the family owned, police said.
To a query, police clarified that the family was not related to Shishupal Patle, MP from Bhandara.
