Rashtrapati Bhavan refuses to hand over riot papers

Ahmedabad: Rashtrapati Bhavan has refused to send some documents to Godhra Inquiry Commission, which the defence counsel wanted in connection with former President K R Narayanan's instruction to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on how to deal with Godhra riots, the Commission was informed in Ahmedabad today (Jun 17, 2005).

A letter received by the Justice Nanavati-Shah Commission from Rashtrapati Bhavan said the some of the letters sought by the Defence counsel cannot be sent on grounds of privilege.

The documents which Sinha had asked includes the letter written by Narayanan to Vajpayee on the steps being taken to control the Godhra riots.
