Relief scam: Gautam Goswami withdraws resignation Friday, June 17 2005 18:08 Hrs (IST) - World Time -
Patna:
Former Patna district magistrate Gautam Goswami, who is in the eye of a storm over his alleged involvement in the multi-crore-flood relief scam, today (Jun 17, 2005) withdrew his resignation.
''Goswami today sent a letter to me withdrawing his resignation from the IAS which I have forwarded to the State's personnel secretary Ravi Kant'' his counsel Tuhin Shanker told sources in Patna.
Goswami, a 1991 batch IAS officer, had resigned from service in January this year and joined the Sahara group of companies as senior vice-president before acceptance of his resignation.
The Government had also issued a show cause notice to Goswami as to why action should not be initiated against him for joining a private company even before his resignation was accepted.
The company, however, dismissed him on June 6 as the State's vigilance bureau probing the scam threatened to sue it for allegedly not cooperating with it in ensuring the arrest of Goswami.
A designated vigilance court had on May 31 issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Goswami and eight others.
The vigilance bureau also announced a reward of Rs one lakh to anybody who would provide information leading to Goswami's arrest.
