Jinnah issue not settled, fight will continue: RSS
Friday, June 17 2005 19:39 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Striking a discordant note with BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) over the M A Jinnah issue becoming a "closed chapter", senior RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) leader and former party ideologue K N Govindacharya has said the matter had not been settled and the "fight will continue".

Govindacharya criticised BJP President L K Advani for describing the Pakistan founder secular but did not comment on his resignation issue.

"The BJP Parliamentary Board didn't deal with the basic issues raised by Advani," he told Tehelka weekly newspaper in an interview published in its latest edition.

Elaborating, he said the Parliamentary Board did not address the "ideological issues" like 'Akhand Bharat' (undivided India) and "civilisational concerns".

"The fight will continue. The issue is not settled," said Govindacharya who quit BJP five years ago after Advani took over as party chief. He said Advani's remarks on the Pakistan founder had surprised him. "It was totally unexpected. I could never have comprehended that anybody can dub Jinnah secular," he said.

Govindacharya, however, refused to comment on Advani's resignation and its subsequent withdrawal saying, "I don't apply my mind to any particular political party or any particular political leader.
